With its spectacular whoops, catapults and mini-mountains,
AMA’s Superbowl of Motocross VII in the L.A. Coliseum was
some kind of challenge.
And meeting that challenge head on was Yamaha star Mike Bell.
Blitzing up from well back in the pack, he took the Final a scant
tick ahead of Yamaha teammate Bob “Hurricane" Hannah. Who,
incidentally, racked up enough points with his second place
finish to neatly cinch the '78 Supercross Championship.
And it was all sparked by Champions. The spark plugs most
factory racing teams depend on for outstanding performance.
