German-occupied Poland was a prison-like territory. It contained 457 camps complexes.
The 3rd Reich Administration of Poland was known as the Generalgouvernement, which was divided into 5 districts - Warsaw, Lemburg, Lublin, Krakau and Radom. Inhabitants of Jewish ghettos in each area were "resettled" to different nearby camps such as Auschwitz, Treblinka, Sobibor, etc.
These stamps were issued on the 5th Anniversary of the Generalgourvernement, one from each district, Each stamp shows the main administration building. In the foreground hovers a raised "3-D" white image of an eagle clasping a large swastika (you can feel the embossing with your finger).
An important and historic series, issued at the height of the 3rd Reich Occupation of Poland.
